Location: Modern Japan--typical schools, etc (like in the mangas). They are not professional band members--rather, they have their own band for FUN...and have gigs occasionally.
Elijah and Elisha
Elijah and Elisha have never been apart. They were born within seconds of each other, hands tightly fisted--they bonded together, some suspected, even more than most identical twins! Their physical appearance was identical since they were young (even their parents would sometimes confuse the two). They've been through thick and thin together, and now, seniors in high school--they've managed to secure their own apartment (with parental permission....of course). They have a great sibling relationship--they love each other and are loyal and protective of each other! (No incest).
They both LOVE music. Elijah plays the electric guitar and sings, while Elisha writes music and plays piano/keyboard. And since they're handsome and beautiful, it is no wonder their popularity touches the heavens at their school...and even the districts around!

Personality
Elijah is pretty much an all-time player. He flirts with every single girl he meets, and enchants everyone around him. Full of charisma, he is very outgoing! However, due to his constant social life, his grades often fall behind a bit. He's also very unmotivated a lot of times, and is quite a lazy fellow. Elisha, his twin, often has to force him to work--only then can he finish his assignments! He generally has a permanent smirk stuck to his face.
|
Elisha has a much quieter nature compared to his older twin brother (yes, Elijah was born ten seconds before him), but still holds the admiration of many girls. Slightly more serious, he tends to work doggedly at everything, persistently finishing everything he puts his mind to. Elisha loves his brother a lot, and does his best to help him in the "diligence" aspect--by threatening to beat him up (he's a tae-kwon-do master), or to chase away all the girls.

Important Information
Elijah and Elisha both wear the usual school uniform: White dress shirts, ties, dark jeans, and school jacket. Of course, they rarely wear the school jacket, and often take the liberty of loosening their ties (or where different colored ones to class). Their sleeves are generally rolled up to their elbows, and generally they both wear black skinny jeans. If it wasn't for their hair styles and height difference, they would look exactly identical.
Elijah plays electric guitar skillfully, and is quite a sensational singer. He's contemplating on enlarging their two-man band, though he doesn't even know what they ought to be named. He has a small earring in his left earlobe, but he rarely wears it.
|
Elisha is a phenomenal pianist, winning many awards in elementary and middle school. He writes a lot of music, and sheets of it are spread everywhere in his room and in the apartment. He often has black headphones around his neck or on his ears.

A Glimpse at Elijah and Elisha
Although they had planned to meet at the front of the school when the day was over, when the bell rang, his twin brother was nowhere to be seen. However...Elisha still knew exactly where to find him. Was it some mysterious connection between the two, the power of twins bonded to each other before they were even born? Ahh....Nope. It was the crowd of excited girls, and the no-doubt-about-it knowledge that his charismatic brother would be in the center of it. Gently pushing his way to the front, he found Elijah exactly where he'd expected to--leaning against the wall, flirting with the gathered girls. With his sleeves rolled up, his tousled hair, and his devil-may-care-smirk, he looked like a young rock star, which was, coincidentally, a pretty accurate depiction.
“So yeah, I'm still deciding on a name for our band, but I know it's going to be great. I'm IN it, after all!”
“Elijah, you should name it after the girl you like,” one of his admirers teased.
He grinned playfully back at her. “But I like all of you, how could possibly I choose?” Although he flirted with every girl he met, he meant most of it in fun. His outgoing nature meant he was happiest in a crowd and loved being admired, and he saw nothing wrong with basking in their admiration and making them happy with some playful flirting. His handsome face and natural charisma ensured he always had it. If he'd broken a heart or two, it certainly hadn't been on purpose.
“I wish you'd play your guitar for us some time, would you bring it to school one of these days?” another girl asked.
“I'd love to, but it's an electric guitar. It wouldn't sound that great without an amp,” he said, sounding genuinely apologetic. “Maybe I could-”
“Maybe some other day,” Elisha said gently but firmly, putting a hand on his brother's shoulder. “I'm sorry ladies, but I'll have to take Elijah away from you. He and his homework have a special date today.....”
“Awww, Elisha no!”
“You can stay too! Stay and talk with us!”
“Just a little longer?”
But despite their pleas, Elisha politely but insistently separated his brother from the crowd of admirers, and herded him back to their shared apartment. True to his word, he sat him down at his desk.
“You've been putting off this writing assignment for days,” he said firmly, a glint in his dark eyes. “It's due tomorrow, and you're going to finish it....even if I have to sit on you.” From a tae-kwon-do master, that was no idle threat.
“Elisha, I haven't been putting it off exactly...” Elijah groaned. “I just had better things to do?”
“Well now you don't.” His twin brother glared at him, half-playfully, half-seriously. He was used to Elijah slacking off on his schoolwork, and it wasn't the first time he'd had to push him to make sure his work got finished on time.
“What about you, don't you have to write this thing too????”
“I finished mine already. Now get started.” With a dramatic sigh, Elijah shuffled his papers and picked up a pencil. Elisha settled down at his own desk with a few pieces of blank sheet music and a small carton of milk. The room was silent....with only the sound of scratching pen and pencil on paper. Less than half an hour later, he felt his twin leaning over his shoulder.
“What are you working on?” Elijah asked, trying to peek at the sheets.
Elisha covered them not-so-subtly and sighed. “Shouldn't you be the one working?”
“I'm getting a drink. What are you doing? Tell me! Tell meeee.....” he repeated persistently. “Come on, you ALWAYS tell me. So---” A loud groan was heard.
“It's a piece I've been working on for a while, alright? It's.... almost right, but I can't seem to figure out how the ending needs to go,” Elisha said in exasperation. “Elijah, hurry up and FINISH YOUR ASSIGNMENT...and then help me with the ending."
“Yessirrr!” Elijah mock-saluted. He knew his conscientious twin preferred to finish and polish a piece before letting ANYONE hear it--so honestly, this was a rare opportunity. “Of course! Glad to help my little bro out. I'll just get that drink and then get back to showing this assignment who's boss.”
Elisha nodded absently as he bent his head back over the paper, lost in his music notes again. A minute later he heard Elijah emerge from the kitchen, no doubt with a glass of his favorite apple juice (it was sickly sweet, Elisha thought...and that apple flavor...). Elisha smiled to himself as he heard the sound of pencil on paper, Elijah energetically attacking his assignment again. The two of them looked out for each other: whether it was one twin finding a way to convince the other to finish their work, or working on musical compositions together, they always did their best when they were together.

They had come to the same decision together, and they came to it amicably. A trial separation, just to see what life would be like apart from each other--to determine if they could handle it if the "band" broke up, so to speak.
Elisha waved goodbye to Elijah from the front door to their apartment. Closing the door, he heaved a small sigh before turning to his keyboard. He played a few scales and arpeggios to warm up, but his fingers felt stiffer than usual. He played around with a little Bach afterwards, but it just didn’t speak to him, every note feeling slightly off time compared to the ones before. Distorted.
Elisha got out his metronome...but that only seemed to make it worse.
Elisha went to the kitchen and microwaved a piece of pizza. He bit into it as soon as it was done, and burned his tongue on scalding hot cheese. It still hurt even after he sucked on a piece of ice for ten minutes.
He sat back down at his keyboard and tentatively played a C major chord that sounded remarkably like an A minor. When he looked down, he saw that he had miss-aimed. Here he was, a master pianist, playing since he could reach the keys--this shouldn't be happening.....
His phone suddenly buzzed, giving him a mild panic attack.
“Elisha, speaking,” he said, mumbling around his sore tongue.
“Dude, can I come home?” an oh-so-familiar voice asked.
Wordlessly, Elisha dropped the phone and went to unlock the front door, and to no surprise, he saw Elijah already on the front mat , amp in hand, his electric guitar slung across his back. His G string was broken.
Leaning his head forward, Elijah leaned his forehead against his younger brother's shoulder. “That was the worst hour of my life,” he said brokenly, and his brother hugged him right there in the doorway.

One pencil was scraping against the study guide for the midterm finals, while the other twin decided it would be better to practice. The soft picking at the strings relaxing to Elisha, making his fingers twitch sometimes like he was playing the piano. No, not today though. They had work to do. Yet leave it to Elijah to ignore the piles of work they had. Elisha had the better grades, he was almost pulling A's in everything, all he had to do was pass these midterms and the rest of the year would be easy. He looked up from his work and stared at his brother.
"You should get to work, you know," said Elisha, turning the page on the study guide. Most of these questions were easy, he only had to touch his book once.
Elijah shrugged, smiling at his twin, never stopping his fingers on the strings. "Nah."
Typical response. Elisha looked back down at his work. He had to do something to get his brother working. Yelling never helped much, it just turned into a sort of game.
"If you start working now," said Elisha, "until seven tonight, we can go to the club."
The music stopped just for a split second before it continued. Got him. The club was nothing serious. No alcohol, no drugs, just good fun for high school students that need to unwind. Plus, there were discounts near exam time. Elisha knew his brother would love to spend time with some of the ladies that swooned over him, and Elisha had to admit, he wouldn't mind listening to the band tonight. He had made sure they had no gigs this week. It was study and test week, after all. They had plenty of performances after that.
"Deal," Elijah said, and the music stopped.
Elisha stopped earlier, at around six, to get ready for tonight while his brother still worked. Thankfully, Elijah had kept true to his word and kept working even when his brother was in the shower. As soon as Elisha was done, he stopped to get ready, both of them ready to walk out the door by eight. The party would be in full-swing, and it was always a good idea to show up fashionably late. The club was only a few blocks away from the apartment. Elijah didn't have his left earring in tonight, and Elisha had his black headphones hanging loosely around his neck. The walk was calm, music growing louder and louder as they approached the club, excited to get out of the cold night air and onto the dance floor. They walked past the bouncer without any trouble, their faces were well known, and went straight to the lounging area. Elijah was already up and about and with the girls that flooded him, excited to see him there, while Elisha sat down in one of the black leather chairs, already having his own following approach him. The twins were both charismatic in their own way. Elijah joked around, smirking every which way, flirting with any girl he could get to pay attention to him, and dancing the night away. Elisha sat there, listening to stories the girls told him with near-deaf ears while he focused on the band, trying to decipher the music and find the best bits. It was a fun night for both of them, relaxing, taking their minds off their grades and midterms, until Elijah picked the wrong girl to make swoon. It happened fast, faster than anyone could recount, but Elijah had a bloody nose within a second of a loud yell. Ouch. The music came to a sudden halt and the girls backed away, including the girlfriend of the attacker. She huffed and looked away from her 'boyfriend', as she would have said. Please. It was a one-time thing.
"Trying to go easy on my girl?" the taller and bigger teenager shouted. This guy didn't attend their school, but either way, not many people were taller than Elijah. The injured teenager wiped his nose on his sleeve and gave a cocky smirk, flashing his teeth.
"Only if you buy me a drink first."
Another punch was thrown, but Elijah back up just in time. Elisha was up and out of his chair in a flash, stepping between his brother and the attacker. He had to crane his head up to even look at the guy in the eye, his fingers curling into a fist. Elijah's good mood seemed to fade as he pulled on his twin's shoulder.
"Hey," said Elijah, lowering his voice, "I got this. Its alright."
"Its not alright!" Elisha growled back. "This isn't a joke anymore."
A guy shouted when another punch was coming down, and the attacker was on the floor before his knuckles could even come in contact with Elisha. The smaller twin moved, hands up, keeping his eyes on the attacker.
"I thought you said this isn't a joke," said Elijah with a laugh, trying to lighten the mood. "Yet here you are playing wrestle!"
"Please! I could beat you to a pulp any day, just you watch." Elisha smiled back before looking back at the current problem. The big guy was getting back up.
"Yeah, yeah, shorty."
"Oi! No low blows!"
The brotherly banter only seemed to make the attacker even more angry, and he charged, getting kicked in the stomach before he found himself on the floor once more, Elisha stepping away as security came over. Every witness knew the brothers were innocent and had only been acting in self defense, but that didn't stop the guards from giving them death glares. The music started back up and the party continued, Elijah getting nursed back to health by all the girls he wooed that night, including the attacker's 'girlfriend'. Elisha stayed closer to his twin this time, walking in front when they finally headed home at about midnight.
"His girlfriend?" Elisha asked once they got back inside their apartment. He was seething. Elijah could have been really hurt.
"Calm down!" Elijah waved him off. "I'm fine! Promise! Now how about some dinner? I'm starved."
They stared at each other, Elijah with a smile on his face, and Elisha staring worriedly at the swollen nose. Finally, they both broke into a low chuckle and Elisha sat back down. Dinner sounded nice. He picked up a pencil and began to compose some music, inspiration suddenly hitting, while his brother got dinner started, humming a few of the songs the band played tonight to himself.

“Maybe the… Twin Dragons?” Elijah mused, reclining back on their couch and spinning the pencil between his fingers. “That sounds pretty cool, right?”
“Quit that,” Elisha snapped. “You’re supposed to be practicing right now, not making up a name for a band that hardly exists. Also, no to 'Twin Dragons'. It builds too much on the twin gimmick. Our band should be about the music, not us. Besides, what if we add in another person? Then the name won't fit anymore.” He was at the stove, boiling up noodles as his brother sat around. In short, it was an average Sunday evening at their apartment.
“I don’t know, I kinda like the attention,” Elijah said with a grin. Elisha frowned at him. He turned to face his brother with his hands on his hips.
“Elijah, you better pay attention to me—”
“Uh-oh,” he muttered to himself.
“—you can’t just sit around all day and expect—wait. What do you mean, ‘uh-oh’?”
“Listen, Elisha. I love you. You know you’re the best brother I’ve ever had.”
“I’m the only brother you’ve ever had,” Elisha deadpanned.
“Well, that kind of ruins the sentiment, but you’re not wrong. Anyways, you’re great and I love you, but I don’t look forward to when you do this… thing.” Elijah waved his hand vaguely in Elisha’s direction.
“This ‘thing’?” Elisha raised an eyebrow at his brother. “You mean the responsibility thing? Somebody’s got to do it, Elijah.”
“It’s more like a mom thing,” Elijah corrected.
“Is not!”
“Really is.”
“I do not act like a mom! Take it back!” Elisha said with a pout.
“Well now you’re acting like a child, so…I take it back,” Elijah grinned elfishly back at him. Elisha groaned and threw his hands up into the air.
“You’re impossible!” he said, going back to the stove.
“I love you!” Elijah called back. “You’re the best brother ever! The best brother award goes to you!”
“Just practice your guitar, Elijah!” Elisha replied. “And you better eat what I cook you!”
“That won’t be a problem,” Elijah smiled to himself, then picked up his guitar and began to strum.
